A fourth grade camper spit on me yesterday.
He also threw two handfuls of sand at me,
jabbed me with a stick,
slapped me in the back twice and . . .
grabbed my hand and bit it.
Oh, and I almost forgot. He also told me several times to "shut my frickin' mouth."
Did I mention that he is in the fourth grade?
Ironically enough, yesterday was also the day I was named the "Working Woman of the Week" on a radio station that I don't even listen to. I only know this because Laura posted a congratulatory message on my facebook wall. I believe my exact words back to her were, "What on earth are you talking about?"
You might be asking yourself, "What do you have to do to be awarded this honor?" Well, I'm pretty sure my name was drawn out of a hat. 5 months after i was nominated. So pretty much, I was probably one of three names left to choose from. Though, I like to think that after the encounter with the fourth grade boy, I earned it.
When Kyle nominated me back in February, the prize was a spa package. Now, the prize is an engraved plaque.
Which is great, because a spa package lasts for like, a day, and then it's over. But that plaque . . . it will hang in my office for the rest of my life.

wow, that's really intense. Reminds me a little of the kid that hit Kyle over the head with a bed rail (last year?) geez, Louise...what is this world coming to????
ps, I just realized that I might not have ever told you how much I love your "less ordinary designs." Seriously, love them. :) might use them one day.
Congratulations!
Spa, plaque, whatever. I think it's great that you were recognized.
I love it! Again, you need to write a book about your life...it would fly off the shelves. I would make it a required read in my classroom.
Congrats on the plaque...that is truly awesome. And please tell me that you sent that camper home. Please.
Hey- just remember that MY week- no violent kids...Jerry's week... I'm just sayin'....
John
Wow. Congratulations! :) I'm sure the plaque will be something you treasure forever!! Man...speaking of which, I really need to make a spa appointment. I think I have a gift certificate in my kitchen. Anyway, I'd like to meet this fourth grader. Not sure what I'd do after I met him, but seriously.....who are this kids parents? Where did he go to school?!
Hahaha. Sara Luke, I thoroughly enjoy your blog. Your life is full of great antics. Seriously. But you really do deserve the award!!
PS--John's comment = Hilarious!!! haha
PPS--I think that Working Woman of the Week at least deserves some Free Freddie's Freeze ice cream...please pass this message on to Kyle. I think the duty falls to him to get you ice cream. Or at least laffy taffy. :)
