One-size-up pants

I'm in my 11th week of pregnancy. It didn't occur to me when I was packing for this trip, that I should pack some of my one-size-up, post- pregnancy pants, or perhaps a pair of maternity pants. I'm not one of the "cute pregnant ladies" who pops out a little belly and can just wear normal pants under it . . . as evidenced by the photo found here. There is nothing "cute" about pregnant Sara. I know that women get bigger faster with their second child, but is it normal to have pants fit tight this soon?

I'm wishing I would have thought it through a little. My pants are getting tight and are making it less comfortable to be on vacation than it would be with pants that fit. I did accidentally pack one pair of maternity capris (my summer clothes and maternity clothes are stored in the same closet), and I have one pair of regular capris that still fit pretty well. But when it gets cooler this weekend, I might be less comfortable in my jeans. I hate the idea of running out to buy some new pants, because I have SO MANY pair of one-size up pants and maternity pants at home and I need to save money for buying summer maternity clothes . . . I don't have ANY clothes for the summer.

Arg. This is fun.

ugh - i hate that stage! and such a bummer to not have your clothes to choose from! but getting one new pair of pants to keep you comfy - especially on the ride home - might be in order. it stinks to feel like you're getting cut in two by your waistband...have you already tried using a rubber band on the button? i did this for weeks with all of my pregnancies!

The rubber band/hair-tie deal is without a doubt the best pant keeper solution! Heck it even works when you aren't pregnant ;) Another solution would be (unless you already have one) is the belly bands that go over the top of your jeans & under your shirt so you can keep them unbuttoned and if they unzip nobody will know. They just look like LONG undershirts when you have them on. I think they come in black & white and I'm pretty sure any maternity shop would have them. I hope you find something -- I'm in full support of being comfy for the ride back home, that is SUPER IMPORTANT!! :)

Target to the rescue! They now carry Belly Bands in the maternity section. I'm 14 weeks now & I have been wearing one every day for a least 3 weeks.

Totally normal-- I started wearing maternity pants with this one at 12 weeks. And I probably should have started wearing them around 10-11.

As for what to do right now (like, for the ride home, maybe not for public :) )-- a lifesaver for me has been sweatpants from K-Mart! Seriously! I actually bought the size I would normally wear, and just wear them under my belly, even now (and you know I am huge!).

Yes, you HAVE to get a belly band. Motherhood maternity sells them. So do Macy's maternity dept. They are FANTASTIC!

Sara...
I have a bunch of summer maternity clothes that will fit you! I have no need for them anymore. Let me know when you want to pick them up. :)
I'm done with them for good!
