1.6 pounds

I had my first prenatal appointment yesterday and all is well with baby and me. They did an ultrasound and I saw the little guy's stumpy arm waving at me. It took my breath away.

There's a baby in there. A real, live baby.

And he just got there all by himself. I mean, without the help of any doctors or nurses or really uncomfortable procedures. Amazing. The doctor again referred to this pregnancy as "spontaneous." For some reason, I giggle a little bit every time they say that. It makes me sound like I'm the Virgin Mary or something.

Anyway, they agreed with the RE clinic that I'm about in my 13th week. I've gained 1.6 pounds but it feels like I've gained 16 pounds. I'm going to try and not gain as much as I did with Jack, but I can almost guarantee that this will be the last update about my weight that I'll publish here.

I wanted to tell you...I don't know how far you are from Ann Arbor, but there is a fantastic cloth diaper store there. Formerly Tree City Diapers, it's now called The Little Seedling. FYI. And, I'm more than happy to answer any more questions you have. I know it's very overwhelming and I love talking about diapers!

Yay for seeing babies!! I have my 16 week appointment this morning & I'm itching to hear that heartbeat. Nothing beats it :)

I wonder if this kid is destined to be spontaneous? That description makes me laugh, like you could spontaneously combust at any moment. :-)

I'm so happy for you guys, that this happened w/out all the medical issues you went through with Jack. What a blessing!

Congrats again! Glad everything is going well for you. Also, just wanted to tell you that the announcements you created for us were a HIT! Everyone loved them -- thanks again!

How exciting!

Now, I notice you're using the masculine pronoun "he" (intentionally nerdy, I promise I don't always talk like that) - - is this just to avoid calling your child "it," or did you find out you're having another little boy???
